Today, I’m taking you on a journey into the newly minted cannabis scene in New York. My destination? Hush New York, a family-owned licensed dispensary that's sprouting its roots in the Bronx. This was my first experience as a customer in the legal cannabis market in the Empire State, and what an adventure it was...
Located in the heart of the Bronx, Hush New York is like a candy store for adults. It's my first time stepping into a licensed dispensary in New York, and the excitement is palpable. My friend Johnny, a knowledgeable budtender at Hush, greets me with a smile and tablet in hand once I made it past the security guard who had to check my ID at the door. He's ready to guide me through their vast lineup of locally grown and manufactured products from quite the line up of Cannabis Brands. Based on Johnny’s recommendations and my recognition of the local brands on the shelf we came up with a nice line-up of products for me to try.
First up, a 1-gram pre-roll of 'Randy Marsh' by DANK. by definition. This brand has made a name for itself with high-quality strains, and 'Randy Marsh' didn't disappoint. It delivered a smooth, balanced high that was both uplifting and relaxing. I had to give DANK a try after seeing all my favorite rappers and celebrities enjoying DANK products on Instagram. The quality was commendable, though I must admit, the indoor-grown options from California and Massachusetts might still have a slight edge.
Next, the Dablicator™ from Jetty Extracts, a nifty 0.5-gram cannabis concentrate applicator. Jetty Extracts has been a pioneer in innovative cannabis solutions, and the Dablicator™ is a testament to their ingenuity. It’s easy to use and offers precise dosage, perfect for a controlled and clean experience. The potency and flavor were on point, making it a standout product.
Then, I ventured into the realm of edibles with Cannabals' 100mg THC Fast-Acting Edibles. These are definitely not your average gummies. The onset was quicker than traditional edibles, and the effect was both euphoric and clear-headed. Cannabals has surely elevated the edibles game with this product.
To round off my haul, I picked up Ayrloom's 4-pack of Infused 5mg THC:5mg CBD Honeycrisp Apple Cider. Ayrloom has crafted a perfect blend of THC and CBD in a deliciously refreshing cider. It’s a subtle, enjoyable way to consume cannabis, especially for those who prefer not to smoke or vape. It felt great to support a local NY Family-Owned farm that has been growing apples to produce cider for years and recently began manufacturing Cannabis products such as THC/CBD Drinks and Edibles as legalization rolled out in the state.
While some flower options at Hush New York didn't entirely match up to the indoor-grown varieties I've seen in other states, a few strains from local growers like MFNY and Electraleaf caught my eye. I'm definitely snagging those on my next visit.
Buying from Hush New York was more than just a shopping trip; it was an experience. The knowledge and friendliness of the staff, particularly Johnny, made it all the more special. It’s heartening to support a local Bronx-owned business and know that I’m getting safe, clean, and tested products.
As I left Hush New York with my bag of goodies, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. The legal cannabis market in New York is blooming, and being able to legally purchase these products is a milestone. Sure, there's room for growth (pun intended), especially in the flower department, but it's a solid start.
