The price is comparable to a single 1g preroll so its not a big surprise folks choose to buy a gram broken into 4 mini joints.

Skinimins were developed by Wagner Dimas, the manufacturer of the Cannabis industry’s top preroll equipment. Their hardware powers over a hundred million annual prerolls for industry leaders such as Green Thumb Industries (GTII.CN) in the US, and all Cookies and Jeeters brand prerolls made in Canada via a partnership with Final Bell (recently acquired by BZAM (BZAM.CM) )

For the California launch Wagner Dimas chose to produce Skiniminis with Strong Agronomy, a regenerative farming powerhouse best known for Coastal Sun Farms brand, the State’s largest cultivator of organic flower and prerolls (Enviroganic certified).

Not just another dogwalker

“As mini joints got more popular, the one format we kept being asked about was a single use skinny joint…something like ‘Virginia Slims’ ” says Mitchell Wagner, co-founder and CTO of Wagner Dimas. Speaking to bud.com, Wagner noted the development of Skininminis took roughly 2 years to bring to market, due to end-to-end customization and iteration of their core preroll technology. Wagner explains “..the biggest challenge is to enable good sticky weed to draw in a tighter, slimmer tube than any existing preroll formats…which meant we worked backwards to build the desired single serve format of a quarter gram (.25g) and developed the optimal paper size and shape, which turned out to be an elegant little open ended cone.”

Although the Skinimini are the smallest of the mini joints which are currently .3g or .35g, Wagner points out that 25% THC content, each “skini” provides roughly 60 MGs of THC per stick which is plenty to get the job done. And have 3 clean minis waiting. Most smokers…including this one would agree that's a very positive factor.

As global weed day, better known as 4.20 approaches, prerolls continue to grow in popularity. Despite very pedestrian sales growth in much of the U.S. cannabis market, pre-rolls are bucking the trend and outperforming its category peers. According to Headset, pre-roll sales have grown 12% in 2023, vaulting into the third most popular product category across U.S. dispensaries, behind only flower sales and vape pens. In August, pre-rolls made up 15.3% of cannabis sales in the U.S.

In Canada pre-rolls are even more popular. Growing at an astounding 38% year over year, prerolls are now the second largest product category of regulated cannabis sales north of the border holding down 33.3% of total sales. The consensus is that prerolls will overtake flower in Canada over the coming years, possibly months.
