We had a chance to see reggae pioneer Lee "Scratch" Perry perform at a venue called the Chapel in San Francisco in October 2018. An early dub music maker, Perry served in the studio as producer for groups including Jamaican music legends Bob Marley and the Wailers, The Congos, Max Romeo, plus later collaborations with international acts including the Beastie Boys, The Clash, The Orb, and numerous others.

Perry was born 20 March 1936 in Kendal, Jamaica and passed away on 29 August 2021 in Lucea, Jamaica.
